If spiders could grow to be that big, I'd advocate nuking the planet and taking us out with them.

Nothing that terrifying should exist, or get a chance to gain sentience and develop space-farring technology. In that case, we'd have a clear responsibility to the rest of the galactic community to take the bullet.
